Each year, since 2012, Ronnie Mabra has organized the Annual Mabra Turkey Giveaway. By partnering with The Mabra Firm, LLC. and 1-800-HURT-911, Mr. Mabra has been able to provide more than 6,000 Thanksgiving turkeys to local families, feeding an estimated 23,000 Georgians. Other beneficiaries include Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, the Department of Veterans Affairs homeless veterans program, and several other churches and charities. The Turkey Giveaway is an expression of Ronnie’s gratitude and devotion to his community, and he hosts it “to give back to his community before the holidays.”
The giveaway has taken place at 5495 Old National Hwy in front of Grown Folks Café each year during the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. In order to receive a turkey, families must register in advanced on www.MabraTurkeys.com and present a valid ID that matches the confirmation. In order to help as many families as possible, turkeys are limited to one-per-household.
In addition to turkey donations, the event also emphasizes on family health by coordinating with local doctors and health clinics to provide free health screenings and information. He also brings Affordable Care Act navigators to help members of the community sign up for healthcare and answer questions.
Representative Ronnie Mabra’s term ended on December 31, 2016 and he did not seek re-election. Though we are still active in the community, WE ARE NOT distributing turkey’s this year (2017). Rep. Mabra’s charitable foundation is in the process of evaluating new opportunities to serve the community. We thank you for allowing us to serve you over the past 5 years.
